History

In 1976, Robert and Lois James established our orthotic and prosthetic facility as a family venture. Since then, we've dedicated ourselves to enhancing the lives of our patients through personalized care, integrity, ethical craftmanship, and the highest quality devices.

About The Founder

Robert C. James, CPO, has dedicated nearly five decades to assisting prosthetic and orthotic patients from diverse backgrounds. He began as an apprentice at Rhode Island Hospital’s orthotic and prosthetic facility, swiftly advancing to become Acting Manager of the entire facility within ten years. Throughout this period, he collaborated with the state's top orthopedic professionals, gaining invaluable experience every day.

Subsequently, he joined Dr. Richard Warren of Massachusetts General Hospital to oversee the Veterans Administration-sponsored Boston Interhospital Amputee Study (BIAS), a rigorous three-year investigation tracking amputees from surgery through to permanent prosthesis fitting. He pursued further education at the VA Center in Seattle, WA, as well as institutions in New York and Marquette University. Additionally, he actively participated in numerous seminars and educational programs focused on specialized prosthetics.

Following the BIAS Study, Mr. James established his own company in 1976 in South Kingstown, later expanding to include a branch office in Woonsocket, RI. Currently, Robert James enjoys his well deserved retirement in South Kingstown, Rhode Island.
